The part of my post you quoted expressly acknowledged people doing charity for their own pleasure, you even quoted that part. It still doesn't make working in a soupline an efficient use of one's time who is blessed with the rare gift of multiplying wealth. To make a real difference, those few people should make piles of money and then pay others to actually ladle out the soup. Simple opportunity cost analysis, not cynical at all, and I'm not the one with a shortsighted view.

If that's not enough – she is having his kid and is already several months in. I tried to talk to her about this situation. My parents barked at me hoping that there is nothing going on between us, because they are married and she is pregnant. I told her that this doesn’t feel 100% right. She thinks it does, but seems to understand the ramifications behind this. She says she isn't looking for a new father, and I have helped her feel alright about the situation. I just merely stated that I didn't like him spending the afternoon (he used to from about 2pm and stay until 7ish when his daughter went to bed) I just said I didn't like him being around hers that long. He made the decision to stop that and made arrangements to have his daughter an extra day in the week for a whole afternoon which I'm fine with. I have no issue with the kids, apart from I wish they were mine with him and he's said the same.
