I agree with you that married couples should be more transparent than someone merely dating. I wasn't insinuating at anytime that I thought he should snoop or invade her privacy. For me, her body language would tell the story just by him asking to see her fb messages. I know if I was dating someone seriously that had lied recently and I asked to see something and they got fidgety or defensive, I would know all I needed at that point. Thus my saying, those who have nothing to hide, hide nothing. I wouldn't expect her to give up her passwords and lock codes, but she is lying about simple things such as her whereabouts so who's to say she wouldn't lie about fb messages or texts. Asking for proof that she isn't texting or messaging someone else isn't too far fetched at this point IMO.

Once you've done that, just chat. All the cliches will do. Where have you come from. What do you do. I like cats do you. etc. I get all that guff like, endlessly from other people at events so it's acceptable. I myself do my best to elevate conversation openers above that level but whatever works. A go-to for me is picking something about a person they've clearly considered about themselves - well manicured nails, earrings, newish pair of boots, clothing item - pointing out I notice it and asking about it. People ****ing love to talk about themselves, get them chundering away about their lives and you can go on autopilot while they think you're a conversational powerhouse. They'll offer up something at some point you can actually engage with them over, hopefully (sometimes they're just bores with lives you can't relate to).

21 is young to be so settled on one man, especially one much older than you. Why don't you be patient and see if your relationship lasts until you are done with college? (Which I doubt....the love of your college life usually disappears before the middle of junior year.... ) If it does, then ask him what he wants. (That is if he hasn't told you already...) If not, there are plenty of fish in the sea. I know that may hurt, but life hurts and you've got to get used to that.

That really sucks, and I guess you need to think about if this is something you wish to continue in your life, particularly such a negative influence on her from her friends. See how it goes, though I question if I would want to continue. It does need to be discussed, but maybe put this on the back burner for a few days and give her a chance to digest everything and hopefully feel less attacked.
